    • Mike had it in his papers but thought it was a blank copy until the committee convened.
    • Deadline would have been extended even if it hasn?t been lost

    • Read an email response from Anne
    • She chatted with Muru and got the same info as Eli/Anne gave her
    • Talked to Jim about the concerns

      • He gave her the run around but didn?t know about the specifics of the complaints
      • Jim was her supervisor and never approached her about these
      • She?s an average instructor ? There are a few really good ones, few bad ones, but most are average

    • Brought up the fact that unsubstantiated claims are Heresay
    • She was an instructor for 3 years, 2 fulltime paid ? 40hrs
    • Vice commodore and social director in the past ? put in 40-50 hrs a week and was burned out

      • Told jim about this, she wanted to work less hours and get her enthusiasm back for the club
      • She made more time for it this year
      • Can also afford to volunteer teach this year
      • Can put in hrs this year

    • Went over the Picnic Pt incident

      • Erin knew nothing about it, Jim didn?t know anything about it
      • (Heresay)
      • Even if it was true, she would have needed help 1 time in 3 years

    • Ground school

      • Did it nearly every week for 3 years
      • From what she heard, someone saw a few minutes of 1 ground school and had concerns over her energy ability

      • Not aware of any deficiencies

        • None brought up by her Supervisor (Jim R)

      • Had many repeat students
      • 2 yrs ago had negative reviews for teaching children

        • She?s fine with this as she doesn?t like teaching youth and only paid instructors do the youth program
        • The negative reviews were never shared with her, but for some reason the hiring committee (her peers) saw them

    • Handed out pros and cons for hiring her
    • Summary

      • Hours Issue
      • Picnic Point (non issue)
      • Ground School (un-substantiated)
      • Teaching Ability

    • Joe Silverberg spoke on her behalf

      • She covers everything, often times more than he does in ground school
      • Different Styles for different people
      • Went over the issue of fairness on evaluations ? Should tell her about negative events and follow up on negative evaluations?not telling her does nobody any good
      • She was the vice commodore and social chair

        • Everything she ran was very well organized

      • Very positive note: If she signed up to teach a lesson she was always there? Many others don?t always show up and this puts a strain on others.

    • Abby Jenkins Spoke
    • Dale (Past commodore) spoke

      • Very shocked she wasn?t re-hired
      • Club is based on volunteers ? "What the hell is going on"
      • "If we treat volunteers and nobodies, nobody will volunteer"
      • Club lives on volunteers
      • Paid instructors ? we have a limited budget and supervision
      • For volunteers we should use a different outlook ?

        • We should hire all of them but the really bad ones that would be a danger to their students

      • Erin is very professional (She was vice commodore when he was commodore)

    • Jason, Collin, Jen, Chris, Jonathan, Mike, John Kirsh all spoke

        • Have been following current hiring process "forever"
        • Same expectations of volunteers and paid instructors

      • Lagging on stats for lessons
      • Evaluations ? Heresay comments work most of the time

        • "Might consider documenting incidents"
        • Evaluations are lagging because of managing a large team

      • Just because someone is involved with the club or gives a lot of time, not ea good enough reason for them to be an instructor
      • Peer Evaluations from 2003 (Other instructors)

        • Not shared with Erin
        • Rehired in 04, so 03 is not relevant this re-hire

      • Note ? this is a review of the decision, not the process

        • Question was brought up: If the process is found to be faulty will these decisions be revisited ? Possibly

        • Someone brought up issues at the committee and they had an extensive discussion about her
        • Questions on her enthusiasm

        • "Very limited time to make hiring decisions"

      • Mitchell ? "The hiring committee has said it had limited time and resources when making its decisions and getting to know the candidates. We as the BOC have just taken a lot of time with Erin and past appeals, and have taken more time and have more information (potentially) than the hiring committee. We should take this into consideration and not simply defer the decision back to them, because we now have better information"
      • Motion to overturn rehire decision by FRYE, seconded by MITCHELL ? 1 Opposed, 1 Abstained, Rest in favor ? Motion Passed
