Commodore’s Report

-new board member Cally Johnson as Outreach Coordinator, non-voting member to help Micah and Andy

-Strictly Sail went well

-Renovations: Union has pushed back plan to form committee, if interested in joining Hoofer committee talk to Kyle or go to meeting at 5:30pm on Sunday. Will focus mainly on design.

-Council has decided to discuss redundancies of OPO and ODR. Please let Brad know if you are interested in discussion.

Budget Revision

-recently discovered that faculty/staff memberships goes to Union, not the Sailing Club. Had budgeted with faculty/staff memberships so must revise.

-revisions are due to clerical error; without objection, this budget is passed.

Justin moves to accept revised budget as Phil presented and as will be attached to these minutes.

-change of shop job description under Union from “specialized” to “intermediate”

-budget will go to council on Monday, so please check your numbers.

Education Committee

-Hiring Committee for Instructors: picked attributes of people want on committee, committee picked

Justin moves, as recommended by the Education Committee on 2/4/10, to appoint the Instructor Hiring Committee which is hereby authorized to hire the 2010 sailing instruction staff.

-Lesson Scheduling

Justin moves, as recommended by the Education Committee on 2/11/10, to impose the following restrictions on lesson signup in order to allow more members to sign up for lessons and not conflict with Thursday night lessons: Lessons will be posted for the following week, but not open for signup on Thursday night at 5PM

Members will be able to sign up for 1 lesson per fleet on Thursday night at 10PM

On Friday at 9PM, members will be able to sign up for 1 additional lesson per fleet

Members can sign up for unlimited lessons on Saturday at 2PM

-Beginning Badger Sloop ratings

Justin moves, as recommended by the Education Committee on 2/11/10, to create a “Badger Sloop Beginner” rating which will allow members to begin taking Badger Sloop lessons without a Tech rating and to update the flowchart accordingly, as attached. The exact requirements will be set by the Head of Instruction, with the caveat that members with this rating will not be able to take the boat out themselves until receiving a Badger Sloop Light.

A Scow Nationals Social

-Contacted by A Scow Fleet member to help host a social

Michelle moves to co-sponsor the June 26th , 2010 social for A Scow Nationals, pending clarification of financial obligations and expectations, and that this event will be an official Hoofer Sailing Club event.
